Debra Hengst is an accomplished professional angler fishing some of the best known tournament trails on the bass fishing scene. Her love of the sport and some natural instincts are what make her a top-level fisherman.

As a born and raised pure Texas lady, Debra has become well known for her catches on some of her favorite bodies of water which are Falcon Lake, Choke Canyon, and Lake Amistad. Over the years, many outdoor writers have sought her out and written about her proven techniques for finding large trophy fish.

Sometimes a great lake and a lucky hat can make all the difference. Professional angler Debra Hengst sure believes it.

Last week while attending the Bassmaster Classic in Shreveport, Louisiana she worked for her sponsors Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Marine and Strike King Lures and while there picked up a new Yamaha red hat. She has always liked red, so yesterday before she took off for Falcon Lake she took a look at it, and decided to give it a trial run as she prepared for an upcoming tournament on the fabled fishery.

She caught several good fish before she landed this 12 pounder, her personal best. "They big fish are biting real good at Falcon and I believe the Bass Champs event coming up will be huge" she said. "I think it could take nearly 50 pounds to win with 5 fish".

We think the red hat is here to stay!
